Prior to starting Coast to Mountain Environmental Law and Mediation Office (CTM), Julia worked as a trial attorney for the United States Department of Justice, Environment and Natural Resources Division, advising a broad range of federal agencies and litigating high-stakes cases under federal environmental statutes and regulations around the country.  Julia also negotiated several complex environmental cases involving multiple parties, including private, local government, state, and federal interests.  While at the Department of Justice, Julia received several awards recognizing her work, including the John Marshall award, the Department's highest award offered to attorneys.  

In 2007, Julia graduated from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law with a certificate in Environmental and Natural Resources Law.  During law school, she was a summer clerk for the Honorable Susan Y. Illston for the Northern District of California and served as an editor of the Ecology Law Quarterly.

Prior to law school, Julia graduated from The Johns Hopkins University with a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. 

Julia now lives in McCall, Idaho, with her husband and two children.  She enjoys outdoor sports and photography.

Julia is a member of the Bar of the State of Idaho . She serves as a member on the City of McCall Environmental Advisory Committee, and is the Den Leader for her son's Cub Scouts den and a Troop Leader for daughter's Girl Scouts troop.
